Westgate Resort – Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

A mixed use timeshare resort consisting of 687 units in 3 towers: 16, 24, & 27 stories  with a total of 1,479,000 gross square feet.  The project is located along the Atlantic coast of South Carolina within a high seismic zone, high wind zone and the coastal construction zone.

The structural system for the towers is post-tensioned cast-in-place concrete flat plate slabs with shear walls to resist lateral forces.  The buildings are supported on driven piles designed to accommodate liquifiable soil conditions that may occur during a seismic event.  The Central Tower includes a ground floor check-in level with retail and restaurant space, nine levels of structured parking with a roof top amenity deck.  The amenity deck includes a swimming pool, hot tubs and cabanas.  From the west side of the amenity deck, the 17-story residential tower rises to complete the tower. Construction of the North Tower s complete.  The Central Tower is anticipatedto be complete in 2010 and the South Tower will start construction in accordance with market demands.
