Paul J. Ford and Company has been providing structural engineering services to the small and midsize wind turbine markets (up to 1MW) for more than ten years.
We work closely with the turbine manufacturer to gain a full understanding of their design and construction criteria. Our staff then employs the use of finite element software to analyze the turbine support structure and its foundation. Our analysis reviews fatigue stresses and calculates the natural frequency of the structure to ensure that it is within the performance limits defined by the turbine manufacturer. We also provide cost effective designs for standard foundations as well as unique foundation solutions for challenging sites.
Our forty-plus years of experience in designing towers for the communications industry and our long standing relationships with numerous tower and monopole fabricators across the county have proven to be unique and invaluable assets in serving the needs of our renewable energy clients.
